PROXY GUIDE
PROXY CARDS AND WHAT YOU NEED TO GET STARTED
It is important to know the legal uses of Proxies and to ensure you are not overstepping into legal/illegal territory. Different games and companies may have different guidelines. I personally do a lot of Magic the Gathering and as such adheres to the Wizards Fan Content Policy. Give it a good read if you are thinking of starting MTG Proxies: https://company.wizards.com/en/legal/fancontentpolicy
Basic Proxy Rules:
DON'T MAKE FAKES OR COUNTERFEITS
It's important if you make a card that looks or impersonates a real card that you mark it as FAKE. While you may know it's not real, you may be liable if it gets sold as a real card if it ever changes hands.
CREDIT THE ARTIST
I know I'm a hypocrite here but here me out. If you credit the artist somewhere it normally makes them feel good and they did do a lot of work to make your card look good. Donate to them and support their work!
OPTIONAL: OWN THE CARD
This will give you mad respect and will more than often give you a better chance of using your proxies if you actually own the card. To proxy a high dollar card to avoid damage is understandable at most tables (outside of tournaments and prize drafts)
KNOW YOUR PLAYERBASE
Make sure your use images and art appropriate to your surroundings. Many card shops don't want your Waifu Boobie cards at the same tables that the kids playing Pokemon are chilling at.
ASK BEFORE YOU PLAY PROXIES
Get the table's permission and don't assume everyone is ok with you playing proxies.
